چکیده
Biotrophic pathogens are believed to strategically manipulate sugar transport in host cells enhance their access carbohydrates. However, mechanisms of translocation from biotrophic fungi such as powdery mildew across the plant–haustorium interface remain poorly understood. To investigate this question, systematic subcellular localisation analysis was performed for all 14 members monosaccharide transporter protein (STP) family Arabidopsis thaliana. The best candidate AtSTP8 further characterised its properties Saccharomyces cerevisiae and potential role infection by gene ablation overexpression Arabidopsis. Our results showed that mainly localised endoplasmic reticulum (ER) appeared be recruited host-derived extrahaustorial membrane (EHM) induced mildew. Functional complementation assays S. suggested can a broad spectrum hexose substrates. Moreover, transgenic plants overexpressing increased concentration leaf tissues enhanced susceptibility data ER-localised may EHM where it involved acquisition haustoria

An Arabidopsis mutant with enhanced resistance to powdery mildew.
We have identified an Arabidopsis mutant that displays enhanced disease resistance to the fungus Erysiphe cichoracearum, causal agent of powdery mildew. The edr1 mutant does not constitutively express the pathogenesis-related genes PR-1, BGL2, or PR-5 and thus differs from previously described disease-resistant mutants of Arabidopsis. E. cichoracearum conidia (asexual spores) germinated normall...
متن کاملArabidopsis is susceptible to infection by a downy mildew fungus.
A population of Arabidopsis thaliana growing locally in a suburb of Zürich called Weiningen was observed to be infected with downy mildew. Plants were collected and the progress of infection was investigated in artificial inoculations in the laboratory. The plants proved to be highly susceptible, and pronounced intercellular mycelial growth, haustoria formation, conidiophore production, and spo...
متن کاملInterchromosomal Transfer of Immune Regulation During Infection of Barley with the Powdery Mildew Pathogen
Powdery mildew pathogens colonize over 9500 plant species, causing critical yield loss. The Ascomycete fungus, Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei (Bgh), causes powdery mildew disease in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). Successful infection begins with penetration of host epidermal cells, culminating in haustorial feeding structures, facilitating delivery of fungal effectors to the plant and exchange o...
